It’s tough, but I think that may work into our favor. A lot of people are saying how bad we are going to be this year. We have a lot of opportunities to knock off teams that will be ranked in the top 10, possibly #1. If we can knock off one or two of those teams, it puts us in a good position to make the NCAA IMO
At least we don’t have that early December conference game. I always hate playing in conference that early in the season.
Duke and UNC back-to-back at home. WOW.
15 – 14 overall, 7 – 9 in the ACC
We evidently won the scheduling lottery, because we’re the ONLY team in the ACC that is playing both UNC and Duke home & away.
But to distract the gloom and doomers just think that on Saturday Jordan Steffy will lead our Terps onto the gridiron. :)
29-0, 16-0 in the ACC
I think “Eddie” is the nom de plume for Gerry. :)
Eddie,
Please pass around whatever you are smoking.
We could be 13-2 once ACC play starts…and I think we have a good shot at 9-7 in the ACC…that’s 22-9, which I think is the BEST we will do…we’re more likely to be 19-12…NIT here we come again…
Woody officially hired…

Duke will always be home and away for Maryland. Aren’t they scheduled in as permanent rivals along with UVA? the whole season will come down to turnovers and rebounding. The same as last year. I think we can replace Gist’s scoring. Guys will step up and fill it in. We need to take care of the rock and defend the paint. It is really that simple. Dupree, Burney and the PGBC (point guard by committee) need to do their jobs. No excuses for the guards. Dupree and Burney will need to put their heads down and focus. Even if they become one-dimensional rebounders whose offense is mainly putbacks; I will be happy. We can’t allow other teams to shoot 25% shots than us because we are careless with the ball and don’t box out.
So USF got Gilchrist for 30k/year basically.
29-0, 16-0 in the ACC.
38-0, ACC Tourney Title, National Champion Ship when it’s all said and done.
What a great schedule! The only thing missing is an early season away game against another power conference school (the first real road game isn’t till Jan 14 at Miami).
I really like the Old Spice Tourney field.
Until someone proves otherwise, I’m with Eddie – 38-0.
38-0? Whoa we’ve got AU on the schedule. And we know what happened with them last year LOL
If I were honest with myself I can see 12 losses before the ACC tournament. So what is that 17-12 and a bubble team with one or two tournament wins to make the dance. I still can’t see the 3 and 4 guard offense working that well. So I think there may be 3-7 games that could go either way depending on how the kids mesh. So that would be 24-5 or 12-19 best and worse case scenario.
We’re probablly not going 38-0 but we can.
This is a different team, new dynamics, improved players, new players that can make an immediate
impact and a kinder, gentler head coach.
If I were to coin a meaningful mantra for this team, this year….it would be….”We can…if we believe we can”.
Al V- We’re not asking for alot….just a “ray of optimism”. Give us “the audacity of hope”.
Go terps.
9 – 7 is realistic. But these kids who saw significant playing time last year really need to show a big improvement.
My August prediction is 13-3 in the ACC and 24-4 overall….This is how I got there:
Northwood – exhibition doesn’t count
Bucknell, Youngstown State, Delaware State, Elon, Bryant, Morgan State – all cupcakes –> 6 wins
Vermont & Charlotte are decent mid-majors, but the Terps will win both at home.
American – If the Terps were to lose this one, that means two years in row. Hence, the end of the world. Terps win and save the universe.
Michigan State – with Nietzel gone, Michigan St. will struggle in the early part of the season. GV will play big this game. Terps win.
Gonzaga/Oklahoma State – I’ve never been impressed with either program. Terps win.
Terps draw Gtown in the Final. Terps win and go to #10 in the National polls.
Michigan – This program has fallen worse than the Terps. Terps win.
George Washington – Like always, Terps lose.
Georgia Tech – G-tech has had an even more difficult off season than the Terps. Early season – Terps win
Miami – First away game. Terps lose.
Florida State – second away game. Terps win
Virginia – Virginia has also had a rough off season and they don’t have the terp-killer in the backcourt anymore. Terps win
Duke – I hate dook. The terps will split with them this year, but the crystal ball doesn’t say which one they win. This one is at dook, so I want it more. Terps win (did I mention that I hate dook).
Boston College – GV has a long memory. Terps win.
Miami – These guys are good, but the Terps win at home. BTW – the guard match-ups will be fun to watch this year.
North Carolina – These guys are pretty good, too. At Carolina…Terps lose.
Georgia Tech – GT has no bench…seriously, they sit on the floor…..Terps win
Virginia Tech – Long memory of GV strikes again…Terps win
Clemson – At Clemson. GV, the raging bull, is disoriented by the sea of orange…Terps lose.
North Carolina – UNC will be the #1 team… GW does it again. Terps win.
Duke – I said above that the Terps will split with dook. That said, I hate dook. Paulson slaps the floor one time too many…Terps win.
N.C. State – NCS has always been my 2nd favorite ACC program. Until Sidney Lowe proves himself, however, I can’t take them as a serious threat. At home. Terps Win
Wake Forest – With their great recruiting class, this will be tough. It’s a home game. Terps win.
Virginia – At home and on ABC….Terps win
I want what StevenD is drinking. 21-7 would be a good year with the lack of size and youthfullness. Is that a ray of enough hope.
AlV,
A ray of hope? Comining from you, 21-7 is like endless sunshine!
