The Terps definitely laid an egg last night. Cosh has to go. He’s going against a QB with a bum ankle and he doesn’t blitz? What is wrong with him? Force the QB to beat for chissake!
The Terps still control their own destiny. If they can take care of business at home, they should go to a nice bowl. As for the basketball team, w’ll get our first chance to see them this weekend against Rollie Massimino’s team. Let’s hope for less than 10 turnovers.
From DBR:
There’s been some postings here about possible transfers and certainly, attrition is always possible in the spring, but it would appear that if that happens, the Terps would likely save any ‘ships for the Class of 2010. The majority of players in the 2009 class will sign between 11/12 and 11/19. Any other 4-star or 5-star guys unsigned after that most likely have off court issues, academic issues, or are thinking about playing overseas. If everyone returns for next season we should expect David Pearman to return to “walk-on” status. So for now the focus of recruitment will be on the all important 2010 class, and set up for the classes of 2011 (with Burney, Dupree, Gregory, Bowie , and Tucker ALL scheduled to leave in three years that will be a huge class for UMD) and 2012.As far as recruit visits, Will Regan visits next weekend, for the Bucknell game, and then the UNC football game. UMD was one of the first schools to offer Regan but Arizona State, Michigan, and Stanford have been pushing hard. The Terps will need to show lots of love on the visit in order to stay in the mix. Regan is a versatile 6-8+ big man, with inside/outside skills and is equally terrific in the classroom.Terps and Fighting Irish seem to lead for Taran Buie. Pitt and Terps appear to lead for Epps. Roscoe Smith is still waiting for an offer from UNC and should pop to them when he gets it.Former Terps recruit, and son of John Lucas, Jai Lucas transferred from Florida. Since we have three players that can play the point on the team right now, I don’t expect the Terps to show interest (and we don’t have any ‘ships available at this time). Frankly, I expect Lucas to either wind up at Rice, Houston, or Oklahoma State. For tomorrow’s exhibition game we could see the following starting five: PG- Hayes, SG- Vasquez, SF- Mosley, PF- Milbourne, C- Dupree. Bowie, Gregory and Burney off the bench. Mosley rolled his ankle in practice and if it’s a problem either Tucker or Bowie would start.

The Post says Vasquez is sitting out for violating team rules.
Has Dupree beaten out Burney for the 5 spot? Just doing a bit of reading between the lines DBR.
Re Vasquez, I guess when he said “it’s my team” he forgot Gary.
That’s just a line up that I feel we could see based on Dupree’s ability to give us more at both ends of the court to start off the game, then get spelled by Dupree.
We will see how GV deals with a more stern GW. I don’t think I saw Gary in GV’s grill all of last year. This year we have already seen a few instances of him cracking the whip on the lion. It is what is needed to make him a better player and the Terps a better team.
I’m glad to see the old Garyland back. You know after the 2002 championship we’ve been reading subtle hints here and there that Gary was more mellow, more “understanding” of his players and so forth. Well maybe that style just doesn’t work for him going by the results of the last few years. Gary was much more successful when he squatted on the sidelines for 40 minutes drenched in sweat with veins ready to pop out of his head.
You cannot tell me that Spazquez getting benched already does not concern you about how immature this supposed leader is. This is going to be a bad year, and yes I am always negative when suspensions come this late into the game. It means Spazz is not taking it serious. You ask the question is he mature enough to step back on the court, I think this is a mild case of Gilchristitis that needs to be squashed now.
Actually, GV not playing gives more playing time to some other guys that are fighting for starting positions/increased playing time. It may also cut down on turnovers. I’m more concerned that a couple of guys are nicked up.
Hi guys. I’m back in Florida for the winter and I need to remember what online site offered up streaming NCAA B-Ball games in the past. I know ACCselect.com will carry a bunch of our non-conference games but I remember a channelsurfing.com site or something that had a bunch of games every night for free. The quality was a bit sketchy but mostly pretty good and I’m hoping someone here can refresh my memory.
I’m pretty hopeful for this season and although there are plenty of sports bars around, I don’t think they’ll be carrying any of our pre-conference play other than tourneys. Any possible sources for game action would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Everyone,
Does anyone know for a possible link to watch or listen to today’s scrimmage? Should be exciting to see how everyone plays, Go Terps! Thanks alot!
Al V – Many of us have cut you some slack on your less than positive rants of our team/players and coaches. One Souper recently asked you (I believe) to drop the tag “Spazquez”. I am joining that chorous and urge other Soupers to do the same. It serves no useful purpose, is not cute and you probably wouldn’t say it to his face. Let’s be positive and optimistict till our team proves to be less than successful.
Also, what do you have to support your statement “it means means he’s not taking it serious”. That’s more BS.
” I am always negative ……..when suspensions come this late in the game” . You were closest to being correct on the first 4 words of this sentence. Late in what game?
Player suspensions are not always a sign of “immaturity” and neither is being late to practice or pissing of the coach once in a great while. No one……I repeat know one (yet) has consistently tried harder and been as much a “cohesive influence” as Grievis Vasquez and you should know better.
C’mon….you’re ( probably) a reasonably smart guy. Using perjoratives is as much a reflection on you as it is your (currernt) target.
Be a Terp Fan. Got It!!!!
